According to FRS recruitment, the firm advertised a total of 88,964 jobs last year, with a particularly significant need for accounting, insurance, engineering, scientific, construction, cybersecurity, and social care people in 2024.
According to the firm's 2023 Review & 2024 Trend Forecast study, the average number of applications received per opportunity increased by 32% last year.
However, on a regional level, 20 of the 26 counties saw a decrease in job possibilities in 2023.
The number of jobs decreased in all major urban regions, including Dublin (down 24%), Cork (19%), Galway (18%), and Limerick (20%).
Monaghan experienced the worst loss in work possibilities, falling 51% by 2023.
In contrast, activity increased significantly in the north-west, with the highest county-by-county increases occurring in Donegal (43%), Leitrim (40%), Mayo (36%), and Sligo (13%).
Increases were also observed in Tipperary and Wicklow.
