Many construction firms in Ireland are now offering relocation packages and financial incentives to draw international talent. This initiative comes in response to the ongoing challenges in the industry and the need for skilled workers.

According to a recent report from Sonas Technical, a recruitment agency specializing in sectors like construction, pharmaceuticals, and advanced manufacturing, a significant number of companies are recognizing the importance of enhancing their offers to attract professionals from abroad.

The report highlights that issues such as high living costs and a lack of available housing are major barriers for skilled workers, including those returning from abroad. While the government’s 'Build Back Home' portal aims to encourage Irish expatriates in the construction field to return, it doesn’t sufficiently address the financial concerns many face.

Industry leaders are advocating for government action, calling for temporary tax breaks and housing support tied to the Critical Skills Employment Permit. This would help mitigate the challenges associated with living costs and housing shortages, ultimately making it easier for companies to recruit the talent they need to drive growth and complete vital projects.

With many firms planning to expand their workforce over the next year, offering tailored packages is seen as a crucial step in securing the skilled professionals necessary for the future of the industry.
