Our client, Forestry Services Limited, based in Cillín Hill, Co. Kilkenny, is currently seeking Forestry Workers/Speciality Forestry Harvesting Technicians for immediate start for their facility at Unit 3, Cillín Hill, Dublin Road, Kilkenny, Co, Kilkenny.
Qualifications:
No formal qualifications are required. Minimum 1 years’ experience in the same or similar role is required. Additional training will be provided on-the-job.
General Duties / Responsibilities / Experience:
- To carry out a variety of duties to care for and manage trees, woodland areas and forests
- To cultivate and maintain natural and plantation forests
- To log, fell and saw trees
To dig holes for tree planting, to stack & load logs and timber, to clear undergrowth and thin young plantations
- To plant, trim, thin and fell trees, and to protect trees from pests, diseases and damage
- To erect signs, spray pesticides and operate forestry equipment
- To maintain forestry equipment, maintain trails, nurse trees and manage forest fires
- Essential knowledge for the role includes pollution prevention, planting seedlings, operating manual and handheld saws to fell trees
- Candidates must be competent to remove major branches and tree tops, trim branches and saw trunks into logs
- Essential skills include assisting direct survey crew, identifying trees, building fences and carrying out aerial tree rigging
- Candidates must be competent to control tree diseases, excite disease and pest control activities, and perform weed control operations
- Candidates must have prior experience in planting trees & plants, adhering to safety rules and regulations, and performing tree thinning
- Candidates must have prior experience in and be competent to perform forestry harvesting, including operating chainsaw and logging
- 1 year of previous relevant experience required
Annual remuneration: €34,000.00; Pay rate €16.77 per hour
