Medtech company Freudenberg Medical is set to create 250 new jobs at its expanded facility in Carrick-on-Shannon. Currently employing over 1,000 people in Ireland, Freudenberg is the largest employer in County Leitrim.
The company has announced that recruitment for the new roles is already underway, focusing on positions in engineering, research and development, manufacturing operations, and support services.
Freudenberg Medical is a leading global contract design and manufacturing partner for the medical device and biopharma industries, with operations in key medtech hubs across the US, Europe, Asia, and Costa Rica.
Dr. Mohsen Sohi, CEO of the Freudenberg Group, officially opened the expanded facility on Thursday. In 2023, Freudenberg also grew its Galway facility, creating 100 new jobs there.
"Ireland has earned a global reputation in the life sciences sector and is strategically important to Freudenberg Medical’s operations. With a 25-year presence in the country, this new investment reinforces our world-class operations here," said Dr. Ostwald, the company's representative.
Peter Burke, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, also welcomed the news, expressing confidence that the positions will be filled by a wealth of skilled professionals in the region.
