As Head Chef at Sheela Palace restaurant you responsible for managing the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring that dishes are prepared and served according to high culinary standards. This role involves overseeing the kitchen team, ensuring food quality, controlling kitchen costs, and maintaining a smooth workflow during service. The Head Chef plays a key role in menu planning, ensuring the authenticity of Indian including South Indian cuisine while maintaining consistency, safety, and efficiency. The position also includes training junior chefs, maintaining kitchen inventory, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
Extensive experience (5+ years) as a Head Chef or in a senior kitchen role, preferably in a South Indian or Indian restaurant.
In-depth knowledge of South Indian cuisine, including traditional dishes, spices, cooking techniques, and regional specialties.
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to supervise, motivate, and develop a kitchen team.
Experience in menu planning, creating innovative dishes while respecting traditional South Indian flavors.
Ability to ensure consistent food quality, presentation, and portion control.
Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks during peak service hours while maintaining high standards.
Excellent organizational skills.
Thorough understanding of food safety standards, kitchen hygiene, and sanitation procedures.
Ability to manage kitchen budgets, minimize waste, and maintain cost-effective operations .
Strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate effectively with kitchen staff, front-of-house, and suppliers.
Ability to train, mentor, and develop junior chefs.
