The unemployment rate in Ireland dropped to 4.1% in November from 4.2% in October, according to new figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) today.
The CSO reported that the seasonally adjusted number of unemployed people stood at 118,900 in November, a decline from 120,300 the previous month. Compared to November of last year, there was a year-on-year decrease of 5,400 in the number of unemployed individuals.
Breaking down the data, the jobless rate for men remained steady at 4.1% in November, unchanged from October, but down slightly from 4.3% in November 2023. For women, the unemployment rate also stood at 4.1%, showing a decrease from 4.3% in October and 4.6% in November last year.
However, the youth unemployment rate edged up to 10.9% in November, rising slightly from a revised 10.8% in October.
The unemployment rate has stayed below 5% for 34 consecutive months, and the CSO's recent Labour Force Survey revealed an estimated employment rate of 75.3% among people aged 15-64 in the third quarter of this year—the highest level recorded since the survey began in 1998.
